Shain Black’s journey in the pool industry is deeply rooted in his family. Growing up, he saw his father, David Black, pour his heart and soul into Dolphin Pools, a pool construction company established in the early ’90s.

Under his father’s guidance, Black developed an understanding of the entire pool construction process. His hands-on experience covered everything from steelwork and plumbing to electrical systems and equipment. This foundation supplied a discerning eye for quality, allowing him to recognize excellence in pool projects.

At 22, Black is the CEO of Dolphin Pools & Spas. When reflecting on the company’s growth under his leadership, he attributes his success to a few key factors. 

“First, my faith in God has been a guiding force in my life and business endeavors,” he says. “Additionally, my father’s teachings on the importance of integrity and a commitment to quality have been instrumental in shaping my path. By adhering to these values and building upon the solid foundation my father established, I have been able to lead Dolphin Pools & Spas toward success.”

Black’s favorite aspect of working in the pool industry is the opportunity to continue his father’s legacy and elevate Dolphin Pools & Spas’ reputation. He takes pride in maintaining the quality that defines the company. 

Furthermore, Black hopes to help guide the next generation of pool pros by staying at the forefront of industry trends and advancements. 

“Sharing my knowledge and experiences through mentorship programs, industry conferences and publications is something I aspire to do,” he says. “I want to be remembered as someone who not only created exceptional pools but also positively impacted the lives of our clients and the industry.”
