CEO of National Swimming Pool Foundation Retires

Thomas Lachocki, CEO of the National Swimming Pool Foundation since 2003, announced his plans to retire in 2019. During Lachocki’s time as CEO, NSPF has grown from offering just the Certified Pool & Spa Operator Certification, to offering a gamut of promotional, educational and training opportunities for both the pool and spa industries — from classroom to online, reaching 40,000 professionals in 2018 through GENESIS education.

Part of Lachocki’s legacy will be the creation of the World Aquatic Health Conference in 2003. At WAHC, leading influencers in aquatic technology come together to maximize safety and benefits from aquatic immersion through scientific and technological advancements.

Lachocki was also a founding member of the Step Into Swim Campaign, an effort to promote healthier living, aid in drowning prevention through swim instruction and encourage a focus on health within all aquatics industries. NSPF and industry partners provide grants for learn-to-swim programs across the country and, to date, the SIS program has impacted over 36,000 families.

“Our impact is a result of an innovative staff and our hundreds of instructors and faculty, all of whom are passionate about elevating our industry,” Lachocki says. “I’m honored to have served beside them. I plan to help with the CEO succession and then take a sabbatical. I encourage the entire NSPF and GENESIS family to continue their efforts as principled leaders.”
