NSPF/CPSA Merge

The California Pool & Spa Association and the National Swimming Pool Foundation have agreed to combine. CPSA is expanding its geographic focus, outside of California, forming The Pool, Spa & Aquatics Alliance (The Alliance) and combining with NSPF, effective January 1, 2018.

“This unification combines strength and strength,” says Mike Geremia, past CPSA board chairman.

The NSPF’s focus has been on educational programs, while the CPSA builds relationships with government legislators and regulators, both with the purpose to keep pools safer and encourage water-based activities to keep pools open.

“CPSA has worked hard to be the best at what they do,” says Bruce Dunn, NSPF board chairman. “It is exciting to welcome the association to lead the NSPF family’s government relations efforts.”

The CPSA was aligned with the Association of Pool & Spa Professionals, but abruptly ended its agreement in September, citing APSP’s decision to reallocate resources outside of the CPSA’s purview. In addition, the APSP and NSPF had announced plans to merge in 2016, but the plans fell through early in 2017.
