We sat down with Yann Morvan, Product Line Leader, Smart Water Quality at Pentair Pool, to discuss how this piece of equipment is a leap forward in modularity, serviceability, and precision, plus something your customers are going to love. Question: Can you tell us about the newly rebranded IntelliChlor® Plus & LT Salt Chlorine Generators and what they now include? 

Morvan: The IntelliChlor® Plus & LT Salt Chlorine Generators are a brand-new line of salt chlorine generators that’s replacing the legacy iChlor® and IntelliChlor® Salt Chlorine Generators. Through this new product line, we redesigned the product with modularity, more flexibility, and more information out of the unit. It’s basically designed to be more serviceable, more accurate in terms of being able to test the salt level in the water, and to offer more value, because we’ve also included more accessories in the box to make servicing and cleaning easier. 

In terms of serviceability, we’ve incorporated a brand-new interface that has an LCD screen with 20+ diagnostics. It’s very useful for alerts and warnings, for knowing when to clean the unit, and for opportunities to optimize the performance of the salt chlorine generator. It can also be used for troubleshooting. 

We’ve built the unit in a more modular way, so it’s easier to replace and handle. It’s 50% faster* to replace the sensor module. It’s also more accurate. We’ve redesigned the whole connectivity sensor to give you 98%** accuracy, which is nearly as accurate as a laboratory-grade salinity meter. 

And in terms of more value, we’ve included the acid cleaning kit, which makes it easier to mount and clean the unit. That’s something you have to do on a regular basis to keep the salt-fueling generator running at optimal performance, so it’s a great value.

Question: If pool professionals are not already offering IntelliChlor Plus & LT Salt Chlorine Generators, why should they consider carrying them? What will pool owners love about them? 

Morvan: Switching from a traditional pool to a salt pool has its benefits. When you’re using salt chlorine generators, you have greater control over chlorine production. It’s basically micro-dosing the amount of chlorine that goes into your pool. You’re avoiding the spikes or the variability of the chlorine levels that can lead to stinging eyes and things of that nature. So salt chlorine or saltwater pools, as some people say, gives you a better feeling of the water. People describe it as more silky, like it has a softer sort of feel.

So, why IntelliChlor Plus & LT Salt Chlorine Generators? They’re a drop-in replacement for the legacy iChlor® and IntelliChlor® Salt Chlorine Generators, which means there shouldn’t be any changes needed in terms of plumbing. It’s the same size, the same power connection, and the same compatibility with our automation systems. Automation makes it even easier to own and manage a pool, and combined with softer, silkier water compared to non-saltwater pools, it really amps up the swimming experience.
