New Tech Startup Digitizes Weekly Pool Service

PoolToday, a pool service marketplace, is now available to the general public in over 100 cities across Florida, California, Texas, Arizona and Nevada. PoolToday offers an Uber-like experience for homeowners to manage their weekly pool service and order additional on-demand cleanings with as little as two-hours’ notice. The company has over 20,000 weekly pool cleanings scheduled since launching in November 2019.

“While building my last startup, I noticed even though I was spending over $1,000 a year on pool service, it was never clean when I wanted to use it on the weekends,” says co-founder and CEO of PoolToday, Santo J. Leo. “The last thing I wanted to do after an exhaustive workweek was clean it myself in Florida’s humidity.”

PoolToday’s app gives homeowners control of their pool maintenance experience from their smartphone. From the app homeowners can order a one-time on-demand pool cleaning, book a cleaning up to 30-days in advance or subscribe to a weekly pool service.

Once a service is booked, the app pushes updates to the homeowner’s phone such as which pool pro is assigned to their appointment, when they are on the way, have arrived and when the service is completed. Upon completion, homeowners receive a digital receipt that includes detailed before and after photos, and an opportunity to privately review the service in order to help PoolToday ensure quality. PoolToday offers 24/7 live chat support and a referral program that allows homeowners to gift free trials to other homeowners and earn rewards such as free cleanings in return. Services are priced competitively based on local average rates.

PoolToday curates a select group of top-rated pool service contractors in each market who are vetted, pre-qualified, insured contractors — which are ultimately managed by the team at PoolToday. PoolToday focuses on ensuring contractors on the platform are generating more than $100,000 in annual income. Furthermore, because each marketplace is strictly curated, the contractors on the platform can now enjoy a day off, take a sick day or a vacation without risking their livelihood. PoolToday estimates the program reduces contractors overhead and increases their cash flow by over 20% by handling scheduling, billing, marketing and customer service.

PoolToday is available in the Apple App Store and Google Play App Store. A full list of service locations is available on the app or online at pooltoday.co/locations. If PoolToday is not live in a city yet, homeowners and/or pool pros can request it be launched there — often within a week.
