Industry veteran Mike Ramey died January 9, 2021. Ramey began his career in the swimming pool and spa industry in 1982 working for Polaris Vac Sweep.

At Polaris, he met Bob Blake and John Grucky. After a brief stint in new construction retail sales, Blake hired Ramey as a salesperson for Anzen, a company newly acquired by Polaris. The two worked together for a few years when Blake decided to start his own sales agency, Blake Sales Associates, in August 1986. He hired Ramey a month later; Grucky joined the team in October 1987.

BSA grew to be one of the most respected agencies on the West Coast. When Blake died in June 2001, Ramey took the helm.

Ramey loved this industry, served on boards and treated his employees with the utmost respect. “His work ethic was beyond comparison,” Grucky says. “When diagnosed with cancer two and a half years ago, he took it on in a manner that marveled those closest to him and from afar. He/we always thought this insidious disease would be something he would die with and not from. Sadly, this was not the case. To those of you who loved him, respected and admired him, just pause for a moment and reflect on what a wonderful person he was. Mike is sorely missed.”

Ramey is survived by his wife, Martha, and daughters Sheree, Sharmane and Sarah.
