Pentair Pool Celebrates 10 Years as National Water Safety Month Program Sponsor
The Pool & Hot Tub Alliance and Pentair Pool are celebrating the 10th anniversary of Pentair Pool serving as the National Water Safety Month Program sponsor. Throughout May, Pentair Pool will leverage its position as an industry-leading manufacturer of pool and spa solutions to help raise awareness of water safety best practices and promote the lifesaving mission of NWSM.
What started as a weeklong event for the World Waterpark Association in 2003 has expanded into a monthlong campaign celebrated nationwide and supported by the NWSM Coalition that includes PHTA, the American Red Cross, the National Drowning Prevention Alliance, the National Recreation and Park Association and the World Waterpark Association. Every May, thousands of aquatics facilities, industry professionals and state governments provide educational programs, public service announcements, government proclamations, promotions and water safety materials to help prevent water-related fatalities, illnesses and injuries.
“At Pentair Pool, we help the world safely and sustainably enjoy water, life’s most essential resource,” says Greg Claffey, senior vice president and president, Pentair Pool. “Advocating for and supporting water safety initiatives like PHTA’s Step Into Swim program gives us the opportunity to highlight the importance of safe swimming and provide funding and resources to get safe swim education into the hands of those who need it most.”
Pentair Pool is also a Diamond Level supporter of Step Into Swim, PHTA’s drowning prevention initiative, donating over $300,000 to fund swim lessons in underserved communities across the country.
“Pentair Pool’s decade-long commitment to water safety through their key role as National Water Safety Month Program Sponsor is truly inspiring,” says Sabeena Hickman, president and CEO of PHTA. “Their leadership has shown the rest of the industry that we all play a part in ensuring pools, spas and hot tubs are spaces for fun and enjoyment, with safety always coming first.”
