RockyWisley

Genesis, a company of the Pool & Hot Tub Alliance based in Alexandria, Virginia, has announced Rocky Wisley as its new construction faculty chair. He is the owner and operator of Serenity Hardscapes LLC in Memphis, Tennessee, which recently earned the American Shotcrete Association qualified shotcrete contractor — wet-mix, level I designation.

Wisley earned his Certified Master Pool Builder & Design Professional certification in July 2022 and became a Genesis instructor shortly after. As part of the team that leads C201: Genesis Construction School: Concrete Pools, Wisley has taught more than 300 pool professionals the fundamentals of concrete pool construction.

With more than 15 years in the industry, Wisley is a licensed Tennessee general contractor, American Concrete Institute certified nozzleman, a member of the National Plasterers Council,  has earned an associate’s degree in automotive technology of applied science and founded Serenity Hardscapes LLC in 2010.

“I’m very excited to take on this expanded role with Genesis, an organization that cares about the industry and cares about the people going through its programs,” Wisley says. “I hope to instill in my students the value of quality-built pools and show them not only how things should be done but that these construction principles can actually be applied to their work on a day-to-day basis.”

As the construction faculty chair, Wisley will write the curriculum for new Genesis construction courses, update existing content and bring real-life construction experiences to the classroom.

He brings a deep understanding of waterproofing, glass tile installation systems and building material technologies to each Genesis course he teaches. Milbery is part of the team of instructors for C201: Genesis Construction School: Concrete Pools.

“Genesis education offers professionals access to the latest trends, research and practices in their industry, enabling them to stay relevant and valuable,” Milbery says. “In my new role, it is important to recognize the power of education in shaping the future of pool building and to approach teaching with a sense of purpose and inspiration.”

In his new role, Milbery will focus on updating resources for students, enhancing the existing curriculum to include the latest industry technologies and working with his fellow faculty members to develop new courses that stay on top of the latest industry trends and topics.
