Step Into Swim, an initiative of the Pool & Hot Tub Alliance dedicated to creating more swimmers through safe swim education, announced Pentair Pool, an industry-leading manufacturer of pool and spa solutions, has committed $100,000 to the program. The continued partnership, announced at The Pool & Spa Show powered by the Northeast Spa & Pool Association in Atlantic City, New Jersey, is part of Pentair Pool’s companywide commitment to water safety education and drowning prevention.

ā€œEveryone’s journey should start with a safe introduction to the water,ā€ says Greg Claffey, president of Pentair Pool, who serves on the PHTA board of directors. ā€œThis partnership lets us give back to our communities in a meaningful way — by supporting local families through helping future swimmers learn the skills that keep them safe in and around the water.ā€

With its Diamond Level support, Pentair Pool will help Step Into Swim provide funding for learn-to-swim programs for thousands of children. The company has also sponsored the annual National Water Safety Month for over a decade.

ā€œStep Into Swim is incredibly grateful to partner with Pentair Pool for the third year in a row,ā€ says three-time Olympic gold medalist Rowdy Gaines, PHTA vice president of partnerships and development, who leads the Step Into Swim initiative. ā€œPentair Pool understands that enjoying aquatic environments begins with safety, and they consistently advocate for increased awareness of drowning prevention through their work with Step Into Swim, National Water Safety Month and other water safety initiatives.ā€

In 2025, Step Into Swim raised over $1.5 million, which provided grants across 43 states, the U.S. Virgin Islands, American Samoa, Grand Cayman and Canada and funded swim lessons for nearly 20,000 children. The initiative has gifted more than 500,000 swim lessons since 2012.

Step Into Swim is funded through partner contributions, which are integral for advancing the mission. Every dollar donated goes directly to learn-to-swim programming.
