PHTA Announces Revision of APSP-3 Permanently Installed Residential Spas Standard

The Pool & Hot Tub Alliance announced the upcoming review and revision of ANSI/APSP/ICC-3 2014 American National Standard for Permanently Installed Residential Spas and Swim Spas and is calling for participation in the new PHTA-3 Standard Writing Committee.
The committee will revise the standard, which provides recommended minimum guidelines for the design, equipment, operation and installation of permanently installed residential spas and swim spas. The standard is also intended to assist local jurisdictions and other regulatory bodies in the development, announcement and enforcement of the criteria.
Stakeholders who would like to serve on the committee must be willing and able to actively participate in the language drafting process and have a working understanding of the current standard. The anticipated timeline for this project is about a year.
PHTA seeks to establish a diverse committee, ensuring a reasonable balance between all interest categories, individuals and organizations. Some priority will be given to applicants who have experience using, applying and enforcing the standard. Read more about how to participate in the process, or complete the application to serve as a PHTA-3 committee member, here.
Stakeholders are also invited to submit change requests to the existing standard for inclusion in the revised version. Change requests can be submitted here and must be sent by Sept. 12.
Completed committee application forms must be submitted by Aug. 8. For more information, visit phta.org/standards, or contact Blake Pavlik, PHTA director of standards, at Blake Pavlik.
