This Changes….Nothing?

The world looks different, but has it impacted the pool service industry?

When I re-read my last column, I can’t help but laugh. If I’d only known what was ahead. We were gearing up for a crazy busy season, but never in my wildest dreams would I have envisioned this.

The way COVID has affected business differs for each company, city and state, but fortunately for our industry, keeping swimming pools clean, regardless of current usage, is a public health issue. So while new builds were mostly halted, swimming pool service continued as the saving grace for the industry.

Not that it’s been easy: New guidelines, restrictions and fears probably follow you along your daily routes. We have customers, family and coworkers who have been laid off, furloughed or urged to stay home until it’s safe — and we don’t know when that will be. When I talked about mental health in the last issue, I had no idea that would become even more important. I imagine most of you have been working nonstop, maybe with your kids tagging along.

Hang in there, and do what you can to take care of yourselves.

P.S. I hope you’ve had a chance to check out the new PoolProMag.com. It is such a huge improvement and I am so pleased with the feedback we’ve gotten so far. Let me know what you think!
