When Brittaney Hernandez joined Cody Pools, she admits she didn’t know much about pools — beyond the fact that you put chlorine in the water and swim. Starting in the warranty department, she immersed herself in the details of pool construction, equipment and service. Through persistence and a willingness to take on difficult tasks, she not only mastered the work but also helped shape the growth of Cody’s warranty and service operations.
What keeps Hernandez engaged is the culture at Cody Pools. “It’s family-oriented, albeit a dysfunctional family,” she laughs. The owners are humble and supportive, and no two days are ever the same. Whether she’s learning about a new piece of equipment or walking a homeowner through their pool systems, she enjoys the variety and the opportunity to keep expanding her knowledge.
Hernandez has played a key role in expanding the warranty department and launching Cody’s service division. What began with just four customer service representatives has grown into a team of 10, all cross-trained and capable of handling calls seamlessly. “If we’re running with a skeleton crew, any one of us [can step in and get the job done],” she says. “You don’t see that in a lot of pool service companies.” That versatility has allowed the team to serve customers across multiple markets, including in Texas’ Austin, Houston and San Antonio and Tampa, Florida.
The complexity of managing pools across such a wide territory has been both a challenge and a motivator. Each project comes with unique equipment lists and plumbing configurations, and she’s learned to read plans carefully to understand how every pump, line and feature work together. It’s a level of detail that has deepened her expertise and strengthened her team’s ability to support homeowners effectively.
Hernandez’s short-term goal is to develop a fully independent department — one that can run smoothly without her daily involvement. Long-term, she envisions expanding service operations well beyond Austin to match the footprint of Cody’s warranty work across all regions. She also sees room for the industry to standardize its language. “We all say different parts to get to the same result,” she notes, pointing out that even something as simple as a jet can have multiple names. Greater consistency, she believes, would benefit both professionals and customers.
When she’s not working, Hernandez loves being outdoors — especially hiking and swimming with her family. At home, she finds joy in reading and spending quality time with her loved ones.
