Morgan Wykstra’s career in the pool industry began with Fluidra as a technical writer at the Cover-Pools location.
“The cool thing about Fluidra is how many different brands and pool products they own and continue to acquire,” she says. “I’ve had the opportunity to learn about and document pool lights, ozone sanitizers, waterfalls, cleaners and more.”
Unlike other jobs she’s had, Wykstra’s position is hands-on, and she appreciates the learning opportunities available in the pool industry.
“I can talk with customer support and engineers, hold the product in my hands or see it at work in our test pool or out in the field,” she says.
Wykstra aspires to become a champion for exceptional technical writing and information accessibility in the industry.
“As technical writers, we’re passionate about clear and effective communication,” she says. “Often, installers are working with complex parts outside for hours. And maintaining those products can feel overwhelming for pool owners. Doing what we can to make those experiences as easy and quick as possible is our ultimate goal.” Her current project involves developing field-accessible online guides, a step toward simplifying the maintenance of pool products.
If she could wave a magic wand, Wykstra would make eco-friendly pools and products more affordable. While options like salt pools and covers can lead to reduced running costs over time, she says high initial costs can deter customers. Ultimately, Wykstra wants to be remembered as someone who advocated for accessibility — not just in terms of product information but also in making the joys of pool ownership more attainable for everyone.
