For Nilson Silva, the pool industry is about creating spaces where families can connect. After gaining experience at Joe Lucia Pools and Al White Pools, he launched his own company, Master Touch Outdoor Living. Building his business allowed him to put his early experience in pool operations, customer service and jobsite coordination into practice.
“I love turning a backyard into a space where people can relax, connect and make lasting memories,” Silva says. Every project presents a unique challenge, and he thrives on finding creative, high-quality solutions that bring joy to families while adding long-term value to their homes.
While his company has earned industry awards, Silva points to something more personal as a point of pride: creating opportunities for his employees. “Being able to mentor and empower our team, while consistently delivering high-quality, professional results to our clients, is what truly drives me,” Silva says. Knowing that his company impacts both clients’ homes and employees’ lives gives him a strong sense of purpose.
One of the biggest hurdles he’s faced is competing against unlicensed or unethical operators who cut corners and undercut pricing. “These situations can create confusion and mistrust among clients, and they often damage the reputation of our industry as a whole,” Silva explains. To combat this, he emphasizes professionalism, transparency and education. By showing clients the value of hiring licensed, insured professionals — and consistently exceeding expectations — Master Touch has earned trust and continues to grow.
“I want to create a company that not only delivers top-tier craftsmanship but also provides long-term opportunities for our team and positively influences our community,” Silva says. He also envisions greater collaboration across the pool industry. “Instead of seeing each other as competitors, we should see each other as fellow builders working to raise the standard of the entire industry,” he adds.
Outside of work, Silva prioritizes family life. He enjoys coaching his son and spending time together at activities. He also trains in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, a practice that keeps him disciplined and focused, and remains involved in his church and faith community.
