I’ve been to a lot of trade shows — and after a while, they all start to run together. Exhibiting is a ton of work, even for a small booth like ours. In the past, I’ve had a love/hate relationship with trade shows: I love to be there and see everyone, and I have some serious FOMO when I can’t go. But I hate how expensive and exhausting they are.
After two years of not being to one, however — I missed 2019 shows because I had a baby, and 2020 because, well, you know — I am almost giddy to get back together. I hope my in-person social skills haven’t deteriorated to the point where I embarrass myself. I’ll try not to hug everyone who walks by.
Also: 30 Under 40 is back! I’m grateful for how you’ve embraced this program. It has been a great joy to see it grow since we launched it in 2018. As a member of PHTA’s WAVE Young Professionals steering committee, I value bringing the next generation into the industry, and making sure they receive the education and mentorship they need to succeed. Programs like these that raise the profile of hard-working pros encourage others to join, and remain in, the industry.
Speaking of awards, I’m excited to announce the winners of our joint 30 Under 40 / Pool Nation young professionals. We’ll be handing out those awards in person at the Pool | Spa | Patio Expo in Dallas. I joked about wearing a ball gown at the ceremony, and it turns out that might actually happen.
