For Mackenzie Keohane, the pool industry wasn’t a lifelong plan — it was an opportunity she seized. Originally hired as an assistant to the maintenance coordinator at Heritage Pools, she was unexpectedly offered the chance to step into the construction department instead. Without hesitation, she took it, and today she thrives as a construction liaison, helping guide projects and clients through the building process.
“My favorite part of working for my company is connecting with people from all walks of life and getting to know the families we’re building for,” Keohane says. Beyond the logistics of construction, she values the chance to learn about clients’ personalities and stories, making each project more personal and rewarding.
At Heritage Pools, Keohane helped her team increase production by 40% in a single year. She attributes the achievement to streamlining communication between departments, identifying workflow bottlenecks and implementing smarter scheduling practices. The result was not only more pools built but also greater efficiency and team cohesion.
Of course, challenges are part of construction, particularly when homeowners are uncertain about what to expect. Keohane has learned that clear, consistent communication can make all the difference. “The more information you provide to homeowners — and the better you guide them through the process — the smoother and less challenging the job becomes,” she says.
Keohane is eager to deepen her knowledge of pool construction and become well-versed in every stage of the process. She also hopes to set a higher standard for the client experience by blending creativity, craftsmanship and clear communication. “Building a pool should be exciting, not stressful,” she says.
Keohane spends much of her free time with family and friends. She is happiest outdoors, especially near the water, and enjoys birdwatching as a favorite pastime.
