Pool and spa filtration products manufacturer Pleatco has announced the winners of its 2022 Perfect Pool Tech Search. The annual contest, which was co-sponsored by GENESIS, the Pool & Hot Tub Alliance and AQUA Magazine, was created to be an innovative way to honor the hardworking men and women of the pool and spa service industry.
While the official awards ceremony will be held Nov. 16 at 1 p.m. in the Pleatco Booth, #4745 at the International Pool | Spa | Patio Expo in Las Vegas, the company announced the names of the winners on Oct. 14.
Amy Lemieux of Englewood, Florida, and Fred Goss of North Charleston, South Carolina, have been named the 2022 Perfect Pool Tech winners.
“I am so filled with joy and excitement at winning such an honor among my peers!” Lemieux says. “Winning the Pleatco Perfect Pool Tech 2022, I do not take lightly. I will uphold the ‘Perfect’ every day of my life. I try so hard to show my love for the pool industry, educating and connecting to customers and learning from my peers. This is like winning the Super Bowl!”
Goss put a great deal of effort into making sure his nomination was up at the top of the rankings. “I am completely honored to receive this recognition for my hard work in an industry that is more than my job but my passion!” Goss says. “In my pursuit for continued education and knowledge in the pool field, I’ve had the pleasure of meeting so many amazing people, and to have the opportunity to represent this community is something I will forever be proud of and grateful for.”
Like in previous years, Pleatco once again expanded the contest and created additional awards. “During our final interviews, we were impressed by the caliber and diversity of a few individuals and felt it was proper to recognize their outstanding achievements,” says Seth Soltow, general manager for Pleatco. “In that spirit, we selected contestants for Special Awards based on their contribution to their community and the pool and spa industry.”
Kristine Blanchard of Hooksett, New Hampshire, was awarded the 2022 Pleatco Future Leadership Award. “I have been in the industry for a majority of my life, and for my work to be recognized in such a major way feels pretty incredible,” Blanchard says.
Another winner announced was Jason Scaramuzzi of Coventry Rhode Island, who was given the 2022 the Pleatco Industry Achievement Award. “I would like to thank the people within the industry that I have had the pleasure of working with and learning from,” Scaramuzzi says. “Although so much of this industry is old school — it is also ever-changing. I welcome the opportunity to continue my education while challenging myself to learn new skills and hone the ones that I have learned and work with daily.”
GENESIS ambassador and co-founder Brian Van Bower believes these awards are a great way to show appreciation for those in the industry who help make it what it is, adding, “We are proud to help honor our hard-working service professionals through the Pleatco contest!”
The 2022 major winners will each be awarded one of two possible GENESIS courses — C201: Concrete Pools or C260: Vinyl Liner/Fiberglass Pools.
