A Little Truck Goes a Long Way

Vehicle maintenance keeps drivers safe and businesses running smoothly

Manning Pool Service puts the focus on safety. Remaining safe is at the forefront of everything that we do in the pool and on the road.

The MPS vehicle fleet is 30 trucks strong. Our vehicles carry everything from volatile chemicals to sensitive equipment. It is paramount when transporting that we are cognizant of our responsibility to our team members, other motorists and to the strain placed on our fleet.

Regular inspections

Once a week, all technicians operating an MPS vehicle must conduct a VIR (Vehicle Inspection Report) and submit it to their team leader. The report is verified and any issues reported are immediately addressed. The interior and exterior of the truck is fully inspected. Tire pressure, gauges, oil change records, lights and turn signals and battery corrosion, just to name a few, are well documented. Interior cleanliness is also inspected.

In Texas, vehicles are required to maintain a state registration sticker, which is combined with the inspection sticker. Expiration dates are closely monitored and renewed immediately when needed.

Oil changes are scheduled simultaneously with tire rotations, maximizing this time to keep your vehicle running smoothly. This will save you time, money and gasoline.

Keeping clean

The exterior of the vehicle is also critical. Your company works hard to brand your fleet and often business is generated from simply seeing your vehicle parked next door. Our trucks are dutifully washed once a month and the graphic wrap is inspected for damage. Keep your fleet clean! It is your rolling billboard. Report any minor dings or blemishes and plan for repair as soon as it is affordable to do so.

Being prepared and aware

Flat tires, instrument failures and accidents can happen. Ensure that your vehicles carry hazard signs, road flares, tire changing tools and first aid kits at all times. Insurance information and accident protocol is provided and ready to access for any driver operating a fleet vehicle.

Monitor your team members driving and know when and where to set the limits. The MPS fleet is geo-tracked and GPS monitored. Speeding warnings are sent via text to a team leader once the threshold has been exceeded. Contact your team member and caution them to slow down.

Courteous drivers

Your community is always watching. It’s one thing to get a one-star review for less than stellar service, it’s another to get a one-star review for your team members’ driving. These can be a huge hurdle when trying to improve your rating. Observe your speed limits, school zones and disability parking access. Ensure your large loads are secure and chemicals are safely stored in correct positions.

If you take care of your fleet, it will take care of you, and you can never put a price on employee safety.
