I lead a team of amazing women, which is one of the reasons it is such a great, personal joy to highlight other women in the industry each year. My wish list of women to feature is so much longer than the amount of space we have, and it keeps growing! Our industry is full of talented, passionate female leaders (like Tina George, who co-owns ASP Schertz).
I wasn’t aware until we started this story that POOLCORP has four female vice presidents, who are on our cover. Each year, we try to talk about women from different facets of the industry, and I thought this was a great opportunity to showcase these four, not just power women, but unequivocally powerful women from our industry. I hope they, as well as every woman we talked to for this issue, inspire others to see the incredible potential our industry holds not just for women but for anyone with drive.
As May is Water Safety Month, we also feature several learn-to-swim nonprofits. My daughter recently joined our local swim club, and swimming has been, by far, the least diverse sport my young family has participated in. As a member of the aquatics industry, that broke my heart. It underscores how important these organizations are to help ensure underserved children are given the opportunity to learn the not only lifesaving but life-giving skill of swimming.
For many, May also represents the unofficial start of pool season. I hope this is a great season for you. Stay safe and stay hydrated!
Best,
