Swade Dungan joined Spartan Pool and Patio in 2017, jumping straight into pool openings.

“I see now that is the perfect spot to get trained as a new hire because you see so many different pools and problems,” he says.

Dungan’s hands-on experience didn’t stop there — he also spent time assisting the construction team, learning the ins and outs of building pools. For him, it’s been a combination of hard work and attention to detail that’s driven his success, leading to his current role as maintenance manager.

What Dungan loves most about working in the pool industry is the camaraderie. Within Spartan Pool and Patio, and even among other pool companies, there’s a shared understanding and a sense of community. “We relate to one another, and it’s fun to hear everyone’s stories,” he says.

This sense of connection, along with the positive work environment at Spartan, makes Dungan confident that the pool industry will be his long-term career. He values the efforts that have gone into making Spartan Pool and Patio not only a great company for customers but also an enjoyable place for employees.

As for goals, Dungan has his sights set on managing 1,000 weekly pools. It’s an ambitious target, but he’s committed to achieving it without sacrificing the low turnover rate and strong technician relationships that Spartan Pool and Patio is known for. Maintaining a positive, supportive environment is a top priority for him.

If Dungan could have a wish granted, he’d wish away the bad weather — something he sees plenty of in Oklahoma. But more importantly, he wants to be remembered as a good leader — someone who supports his crew, helps them grow and works hard to ensure both their success and the success of the company.
