Makenzi Kinder joined Payan Pool Service in April 2023, making the move from Dallas to sunny San Diego just in time for a new adventure in the pool industry. Starting as a floater in the service department, Kinder filled in wherever help was needed while managing her small route. “I proved to all the boys I could keep up,” she says.
She soon moved from the service department to the repair department as department coordinator, where she continues to thrive.
One thing Kinder enjoys most about the pool industry is the opportunity for learning and growth. With new technologies and trends constantly emerging, the work remains engaging. “The ongoing evolution of the industry provides so many avenues for professional development,” she says.
While she’s happy in her current role, Kinder is also keeping an eye on potential entrepreneurial ventures.
“I’m interested in the idea of starting my own company,” she says. “This could involve specializing in leak detection, establishing a repair business or even the pipe dream of building natural pools. I want to use my experience to positively contribute to the industry’s advancement.”
Kinder also dreams of raising awareness around water and chemical usage and contributing to a more sustainable and environmentally friendly approach in the industry.
“I envision promoting natural alternatives, such as plant-based filtration systems, to reduce dependency on traditional equipment,” she says. “My goal would be to make natural pools more accessible, affordable and widespread.”
