Jose Moranchel started as a pool industry supervisor at 18 years old. He managed pools for a lawn care company, then spent five years as a foreman for another pool business. But after a series of broken promises for advancement, Moranchel needed a change.
“One day my wife and I had enough of me being gone all the time and almost never having time [for my family],” he says. He finished work on a Friday and turned in his keys with no regrets.
In July 2016, Jose and Sons Pool Service opened as a part-time service company. In March of this year, the business became a full-time income for the Moranchel family, balancing a few remodels and 14 weekly maintenance pools. Moranchel says most of the company’s business comes from word of mouth and Home Advisor referrals. He also has dreams of expanding.
By next pool season, he’d like to open a chemical store in the Belton area. “There are a substantial amount of pools in Belton and the surrounding areas,” he says, “and those customers are driving 40 to 60 minutes to get chemicals.”
In the summer, Moranchel’s oldest son works full time by his side, and that’s Moranchel’s ultimate motivation. “I hope to grow big,” he says, “to have something my kids can grow into and keep the company going.”
